It happened again, I skipped a day. Yesterday was just entirely too busy to take a minute and write. I unpacked for most of the day and then I finally got a date night with my husband! We had a wonderful babysitter come and watch the kids for us so we could go out. And when I mean go out, we were still pretty close and we were both so tired from unpacking that dinner and a movie was about all we could muster the energy to do. But, you know what? I’ll take it. Quality time is what matters.
The base here does this cool thing every once in a while called Food Truck Friday. A bunch of food trucks come in from all over St. Louis and they have a big party, essentially.
It’s such a cool idea, we just had to go and check it out. Now, let me begin by saying that there are no healthy choices at a food truck. So, there was a little cheating going on. I’m lying. I don’t believe in cheating. I believe in eating in moderation and that is what I did.
Also, I have been craving a good burger, so the slider truck won out for me.
It was pretty good, I’m not going to lie. And when the Budweiser people hand you a free Bud Light, you take it, with pleasure.
Before you go getting too disappointed with me, I anticipated this calorie laden dinner and I scheduled my workout just prior to my fun little date night.
Check out those stats! If this calorie things is right, I burned over 600 calories in 2.23 miles. That’s insane. It’s this new treadmill I tried out called Curve. It’s self propelled. I was a little frightened when I got on, but I looked around the gym and only saw me and a bunch of elderly adults, so I figured I was safe from embarrassment – they don’t give a hoot what I look like on this treadmill.
It definitely took me a while to get the hang of it and I can’t say that I ever did get it. It curves up at the front and you go faster if you run closer to that curve and it also curves up to the back and if you get close to that curve, it slows down. I held on to the sides quite a bit to keep from falling flat on my face. That would have been quite the show for the people in the gym.
All that said, I was completely worn out at the end of this short run, so maybe the calorie thing is right. After that I headed back on safe ground and did some ab work and legs. I am sufficiently sore today, so I call it a win.
So, one might wonder why I worked out before I ate my food truck dinner and not after. Your metabolism stays elevated for a short time after you work out (depending on the intensity of your workout). So, I was burning more calories at rest while eating my food truck slider than I would have been if I didn’t work out. Total bonus right?
I feel great and I’m ready for another day!
