If you are always on the go, then you might have reached for one of those convenient snack packs near the cheese in the grocery store. Often called protein packs or snack packs, these single serving size hunger busters can be a bit pricey.
It is much more economical to make your own. Controlling what you add to your protein pack also helps with quality control. I don’t know about you, but the meat and cheese in those things makes me cringe a little.
I choose 2 parts protein to 1 part dried fruit. The dried fruit helps to balance out the saltiness that can sometimes come with protein choices for snacks.
Cubed low sodium deli meat
Low Sodium Jerky
Freeze dried fruit
If you choose something that needs refrigeration, such as cheese or meat, keep your protein pack on ice or in the fridge until you are ready to eat. These are also perfect for the kid who does not like traditional lunches for school. Make some protein packs for yourself and snack healthy!
