I’m convinced my children are preparing themselves for life after high school. They love cold pizza. I have to say, it’s not my favorite. The food industry has hit a jackpot with a child’s love of cold fun food.
Apparently, my food background does not help when it comes to filtering out what I deem as a healthy lunch when my children beg for these packaged cold pizza kits. Luckily, I have two things going for me. I need to make it myself and I won’t pay the crazy price for these kits that also come with sugar water and candy.
If your kids beg for these, here is a healthier way to make them.
- Whole wheat bread or pitas
- Low sugar tomato sauce
- Real Cheese
- Add fruits and veggies instead of sugar water and candy
Here’s the crazy thing. they actually like these. Trust me, I don’t understand it either. However, I feel like it’s my duty to give all of you hardworking parents out there an alternative to the prepackaged, high sodium lunch kits.
Are you concerned that they might be lacking protein with this lunch? Don’t. Add some lean ham or a greek yogurt to the lunch box. If they are eating a well-rounded breakfast and dinner, you are good to go.
