Today seemed to fly by. I wish I could say that I accomplished much more than I really did. I’m preparing the house for my husband’s Christmas gift, which I shall stay silent on just a little longer. That preparation took HOURS out of my day. Augh.
I had some important emails to catch up on this morning, so that took longer than I anticipated. Sometimes, they do. I guess I shouldn’t mind, that means I’m working and someone cares about my opinion. That in itself makes me feel good.
I had to hit yoga class today. Sometimes, it’s hard to get out in the middle of the day to go, but I’m always glad I do. The yoga class I attend is pretty intense. My abs are still recovering from Tuesday’s burn session. Our instructor Dana is no joke. I’m pretty sure she spends her days working on her abs, because I can’t seem to imagine how she can joke around while she does all the crunches. I’m not sure I can even talk. There is a lot of unnecessary grunting in the room, so that means someone is having an even harder time than me. And I always get stuck next to the girl who always leaves before class is over. Why don’t those people sit next to the exit? I have no problems if someone wants to skip shavasana, but come on, sit by the door instead of setting your mat up in the furthest corner. My zen was severely interrupted. Then I just started thinking about how many things I had to get done when I got home.
This evening was a tricky one for us. I had one kid with a lot of homework, so she skipped swim and I have another with a concert tomorrow, so she had to go to swim, because she’s missing tomorrow. Are you still with me? Then there’s me. I have to meet 2 students early tonight for a make-up test, so I have to be at school at 6 and swim ends at 6:30. It’s a juggling act with kids and parents and dinner tonight.
So, what’s a mom going to do for dinner? I made some fresh rolls. I used my Simple Bread Boule recipe and made rolls with it. The family is just going to have to settle for sandwiches. I did make some roasted potatoes right before I left for school and left them the oven. I hope I timed it correctly so that they are still warm when everyone gets back from picking Lily up from swim.
So, here’s where I sit…
…as my students take their test and I catch up on some grading. Luckily, the semester ends next week and I get a month off. It will go by too quick, as it always does. I’m thankful for this opportunity to work, because who knows what our next assignment will bring.
Tomorrow’s calendar looks promising with a fun lunch date with a friend. Off to teach!
