If you take a look at my life, you would probably think I spend way too much time in the kitchen. I realize I am a bit of an anomaly when it comes to cooking. I really enjoy it. In fact, I would much rather make my own dinner than go out to eat. Wouldn’t it make sense that I would have a lot of pictures of me in the place I spend the most time? Sadly, I did not. Until now.
I am so lucky that throughout my life, I get to move around and meet the most amazing people and do things that I never would have thought of. Life can get so stagnating at times, we never think about the things we’re not doing…that is, until someone tells us we should.
I just happen to know an amazing woman, who is also a phenomenal photographer. She does traditional photography, but she also does Lifestyle Photography – capturing everyday moments in the blink of an eye, or in a snapshot.
Her name is Kellyn and she owns Kellyn Wilson Photography. If you are local to the Scott AFB, Belleville, Shiloh, O’Fallon, Illinois area, you really need to check her out.
So, why am I happy I did this session?
-I now have fantastic pictures of me and my kids doing what I love to do most.
-It was a lot of fun. Everything we did, we planned together. My girls and I picked out the menu and the clothes, and made all the decisions together. Even down to if they were going to wear shoes or not
-I realized that my kids are really good eaters. I always knew they were good eaters, but they liked to show off their mad healthy skills by eating raw onions in front of Kellyn. I think Kellyn was a little mortified and Luke was crying from the onions, but we’ll never forget that.
-My kids loved it. What kid loves to get their pictures taken? Not my kids. Doing family pictures is like torture for everyone, maybe that’s why, in the past, we all look so uncomfortable in most of the shots and then we’re lucky if we get a few good ones out of the session. Not this time. They really enjoyed this. Probably because there were cupcakes involved.
-And my final reason for happiness? My kitchen. I was so apprehensive about doing this shoot, because I don’t have the prettiest kitchen. We live on an Air Force base, and the kitchens are not exactly gourmet. After I got the pictures back, I realized I had no reason for such vanity, because there were smiles and yummy food to take over the focus.
-and I can’t forget about Pepper
She stood at our feet the entire time, just waiting for food to fall – and it did:)
We definitely had a clean floor after and there was no fighting when it came to dishes
Who can argue with bubbles?
These sweet girls make me want to tear out my hair some days, but these moments were great. Good job Kellyn!
And last but not least is this kid. He was really just there for the food.
